INTERVIEWS WITH FIRE CHIEF CANDIDATES

Mayor Hooley announced that the COllneil interviewed the five
candidates for Fire Chief and concurred that George Ness will
be hired for the position. Council continued to discuss the
date of employment for Mr. Ness, and the process for hiring a
replacement for Mr. Ness in the Fire Department,

Mayor Hooley removed himself from this discussion and Vice-
Chairman Funke presided. Consulting Engineer Peters reviewed
the project costs and proposed assessments which total
$395,h44.34. The hearing was opened to comments from the
public.
Peter Polga, Director of Courage st. Croix, requested that
Council reconsider the assessment for Courage st. Croix
because of its non-profit status, and because the
improvements have little positive impact on the center.
Council discussed the possibility of trading a parcel of land
to the City in lieu of the assessment.

Steve Fiterman, President of Ground Development, presented
his objection to the assessment because Ground Development is
being assessed 73 percent of the cost, and the Industrial
Park is being assessed 27 percent. He believes that all
parties will benefit equally from the Improvements and should
be assessed equally. He asked for a postponement of the
hearing to work further with Staff.

DISCUSSION OF PAY EOUITY ISSUE
Motion by Councilmember Bodlovick, seconded by Councilmember
Kimble to adopt tbe appropriate Resolution rescinding the
previous Resolution regarding pay equity, and approving the
adjusted maximum salaries for certain employee classifications.

West Wing of Jr. H.S., until next Tuesday's meeting in order to
receive input from Consulting Engineer Moore. (All in favor)

Sale of Oak Glen Golf Course
Motion by Councilmember Funke, seconded by Councilmember Kimble
to direct the City Attorney to review documents regarding a
proposed purchase of Oak Glen Golf Course by a private party.

Motion by Councilmember Bodlovick, seconded by Councilmember
Kimble to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 p.m. (All in favor)
