HomeMy WebLinkAbout1156 Ord (Local Lodging) ORDINANCE NO. 1156 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 56 OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER, SECTION 56-5, LOCAL LODGING TAX EXTENDING THE EXPIRATION DATE The City Council of the City of Stillwater does ordain: SECTION 1 SECTION 1.AMENDMENT. Chapter 56,Taxes and Assessments of the City Code, Section 56-5, Local Lodging Tax, is hereby amended as follows: (1) Effective date. This section will be in full force and effect from and after its date of publication and will establish the tax set forth in this section upon gross lodging receipts generated beginning on February 1st, 2017 and thereafter and, unless revised by action of the city council, until December 31st, 2026, when the tax will sunset by operation of law. SECTION 2 SECTION 2. SUMMARY PUBLICATION. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 412.191, in the case of a lengthy ordinance, a summary maybe published. While a copy of the entire ordinance is available without cost at the office of the City Clerk, the following summary is approved by the City Council and shall be published in lieu of publishing the entire ordinance: The ordinance amendment extends the lodging tax for another 5 years, through December 31, 2026. SECTION 3 SAVING. In all other ways the Stillwater City Code shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 4 EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance will be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication according to law. Adopted by the Stillwater City Council this 10th day of November, 2020.
