HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-05-14 BOWC MIN Stillwater, Minnesota May 14, 2015 Regular Meeting: The regular meeting of the Board of Water Commissioners was held on Thursday May 14, 2015 at 8:30 A.M. President Speedling and Commissioner Nyberg present, Commissioner Vania via phone, with President Speedling presiding. Also present was Tom Corman, Council Member Menikheim. On motion of President Speedling, duly seconded by Commissioner Nyberg, all voting “Aye”, the Agenda was accepted as presented. On motion of Commissioner Nyberg, duly seconded by President Speedling, all voting “Aye, the minutes of the April 16, 2015 regular meeting were read and approved as written. On motion of Commissioner Nyberg, duly seconded by President Speedling, all voting “Aye”, Resolution No. 1476 was approved for payment. Tom Corman reported to the Board that they are working on the GIS mapping; they also found a watermain break at 716 Nightingale Blvd that was not coming up in the street. They are turningon irrigations and snowbirds, and are working on pumphouse yards and cleaning up watermain breaks. Manager Benson provided the Board with two quotes for repairing the roof at Well #9. JTR Roofing, Inc. $3,240.00 Replace Shingles Benson Roofing & Renovations $ 850.00 Roof Repair and Replace Shingles in Affected Area After discussion, on motion of Commissioner Vania, duly seconded by President Speedling, all voting “Aye”, with Commissioner Nyberg abstaining, Benson Roofing and Renovations will repair the roof and shingles in the affected area for $850.00. Manager Benson provided the Board with two quotes for replacing shingles at Well #11 JTR Roofing Inc. $ 4,640.00 Architectural Asphalt Shingles $10,800.00 Cedar Shakes Benson Roofing & Renovations $ 4,500.00 Architectural Asphalt $ 8,610.00 Cedar Shakes After discussion, on motion of Commissioner Vania, duly seconded by President Speedling, all voting “Aye, with Commissioner Nyberg abstaining, Benson Roofing and Renovation will replace cedar shakes with architectural asphalt shingles for $4,500.00 with approval from the Liberty Homeowners Association. The following items were discussed, with no action taken: 1. Accounts receivable balance as of April 30, 2015 was $129,486.31 with the actual amount being $206,604.86; this is $34,000.00 less than last years. 2. Manger Benson informed the Board that 308 delinquent notices were mailed out for a total of $49,769.84. 3. Manager Benson informed the Board that a leak that was found on the leak survey from two years ago was dug up by the contractor and no leak was found, he will be working with the owner of Water Conservation Services to resolve the issue and the cost of the contractor. 4. Manager Benson informed the Board that he is waiting for a price from A-1 Contracting to replace the hydrant on Osman Ave. This is the contractor that will be doing the work for the City of Oak Park Heights. He will also get a price from Miller Excavating to replace the hydrant. 5. Manager Benson explained to the Board that he received two quotes for the repair of Booster Pump #2 at Well #11; one from Keys Well Drilling and one from E.H. Renner, because the line items on the quotes do not match, he will be working with T.K.D.A Engineering to create a quote sheet and resend to both parties. 6. Discussion was held on accepting credit card payments and the additional 3% that it would cost the Board of Water Commissioners. Manager Benson will check with the City of Stillwater on the 3% fees and report back to the Board. 7. Manager Benson updated the Board on the GIS Survey with Bolton & Menk. 8. Manager Benson informed the Board that he is moving forward setting up a new account with First State Bank and Trust. There being no further business, on motion of President Speedling, duly seconded y Commissioner Nyberg, all voting “Aye’, the meeting was adjourned. Attest: Secretary
