HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-11-29 DTPC MinDOWNTOWN PARKING COMMISSION MINUTES The Downtown Parking Commission met at 9 a.m., November 29, 1994, in the council chambers of city hall, 216 N. 4th Street, Stillwater, MN 55082. Present: Patrick Anderson, Ed Stuart, Carl Ranum, Katie Holdorph, Dave Swanson. Absent: Paul Simonet, Dick Chilson Others: Tom Thueson, Connie Adams CUB Foods Maintenance Proposal for the Riverview Parking Lot Tom Thueson presented the proposal to the commission. He stated that CUB would like to control the parking lot. He stated that CUB would do all the maintenance and improvements to the lot in the future in view of parking fees. Steve Russell, Community Development Director, reviewed the background of the CUB project and the development of the parking lot. Ed Stuart stated some realities of the average citizen in regards to the lot. Carl Ranum stated that he has concerns regarding the city selling the lot to CUB Foods and the future deed restriction on the property. Steve Russell stated that the definite use could be added to the "Conditions of Approval" for the project. Patrick Anderson stated that it is a wash. CUB brings jobs and residents to the valley. Carl Ranum explained that the program needs to be justified. Carl Ranum is uncomfortable about selling the lot in the future due to the unknowns. Carl Ranum made a motion that no fees be charged and that CUB Foods maintain the lot including lighting and seal coating over the long term and all related items. Important that there is parking available for the office. Seconded, by Ed Stuart. All approve. Dave Magnuson will look at the Desch building development agreement. Agenda for next meeting on December 7, 1994, at 8:30 a.m.: 1. Get copy of lease for Desch Building. 2. UBC parking lot. 3. Update on 1994.
