Dear Mr. Arnebeck:
Thank you for coming out to Stillwater to discuss our idea on providing better access to and
through Downtown Stillwater. I brought some of the ideas we discussed back to our Downtown
Parking Commission for their consideration. This letter requests signage directing travelers to
Downtown Stillwater via CR 15, TH 96 and TH 95. The Parking Commission discussed the idea
and felt that new signage on TH 36 could have the following benefits to the State, City of
Stillwater and regional motorist.
By diverting traffic from TH 36, congestion and travel delay on Hwy 36 would be shortened
particularly on weekends in the Summer. Travelers would reach their destinations sooner.
Traffic that cuts through local streets such as Greeley, Third and Fourth because of back-up, may
be reduced. Cars circulating around the Downtown using TH 36 looking for parking would be
reduced better accommodating travel through Downtown. There is a good supply of parking,
300+ spaces along North main to accommodate redirected traffic.
We feel this idea has merit, and would coordinate signage on CR 15 with the County (see
attached with map for possible sign locations).
Thank you for your consideration in advance of this request.
Sincerely,
teve Russell
Community Development Director
