Home My WebLink About2013-04-15 CHC MIN s water The(Birthplace of Minnesota CHARTER COMMISSION MINUTES April 15, 2013 MEETING Present: Commissioners Carter, Swanson, Molstad, Nelson, Zoller (Commissioner Molstad left at 7:25 p.m.) Absent: Commissioners McLellan, Milbrandt Chair Carter called the meeting to order at 7:23 p.m. RECOGNITION OF COMMISSIONER BEALKA Commissioner Molstad requested that the record recognize the service of long-time Commissioner Eugene "Taco" Bealka who passed away. Motion by Commissioner Molstad, seconded by Commissioner Zoller, to formally recognize the service of Mr. Bealka. All in favor. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Commissioner Zoller, seconded by Commissioner Nelson, to recess the meeting at 7:26 p.m. to interview an applicant. All in favor RECESSED MEETING Chair Carter called the recessed meeting to order at 7:38 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Commissioner Zoller, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, to approve the March 19, 2012 Charter Commission meeting minutes. All in favor. NEW BUSINESS Chair Carter suggested that the Commission meet more than once a year, for instance in three months for an orientation of the new Commission members, and every six months after that. Commissioner Nelson suggested having a study session to review the City Charter. Chair Carter asked the minutes to reflect that the City should schedule a meeting three months from now, then six months from that. He requests that the City Attorney attend the next meeting to provide background on the Charter Commission's role and responsibilities. Charter Commission Meeting April 15, 2013 Motion by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, to recommend the appointment of David Ratte and Richard Juelich to Judge Hoffman to fill the vacancies left by Ron Nelson and Taco Bealka, respectively. All in favor. OLD BUSINESS There was no old business. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Commissioner Zoller, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m. All in favor.
