Present: Councilmembers Cummings, Bodlovick, Kimble and Mayor Hooley. Absent: Councilrnember Funke Also Present: City Coordinator Kriesel City Attorney Magnuson Press: Julie Kink, The Courier Mike Marsnik, Stillwater Gazette Others: Don Nolde, Bill Abrahamson, Karl Ranum, Bruce Brillhart, Corey Mohan, Terry Zoller, and David Junker Interview For Vacant Council Seat The City Council conducted interviews of the candidates for the Ward I Council seat that would become vacant on May II, 1994 due to the resignation of Councilrnember Funke. The Council interviewed Karl Ranum, Bruce Brillhart, David Junker, Corey Mohan, Don Nolde, Terry Zoller, Brent Peterson and William Abrahamson, Council conducted a straw vote that indicated that Terry Zoller was the most qualified candidate. A similar straw vote conducted by Ward I residents at a candidate forum held on May 5, 1994 also indicated that Mr. Zoller was the most qualified candidate. The straw vote of the Council indicated that Mr. Zoller would be appointed to fill the vacant seat at the next regular Council meeting, Reauest to Conduct Sidewalk Sale Council discussed a request from P.J. Asch, Otterfitters to conduct a sidewalk sale in the Central Business District on the weekend of May 20-22, 1994, Motion by Councilrnember Bodlovick, seconded by Councilrnember Cununings to approve a sidewalk sale on May 20-22 as requested by P.J. Asch, Otterfitters. All in favor. Perro Creek Council discussed the upcoming joint meeting of the Middle River WMO communities regarding capital improvements to solve Perro Creek drainage problems. Council directed staff to provide them with more information on Perro Creek before the joint meeting. """ Stillwater City Council Minutes Special Meeting May 10, 1994 CUB Parkine Lot Boiler Doors City Attorney Magnuson informed the Council that he had negotiated a settlement with J. & D. Enterprises, contractor for the CUB parking lot to share the cost of the boiler door repairs at a cost of $1,200. Motion by Councilmember Kimble, seconded by Councilmember Bodlovick to pay one half of the cost of the West Wing Junior High School boiler door repair. All in favor, Resource ReCOVery Surcharee City Attorney Magnuson informed the Council that Washington County had established a surcharge on solid waste collection fees. The fees would be $1.60 per household if the County were to collect and $1.40 per household if the City were to collect the surcharge. Council directed staff to place this item on the agenda for the May 17, 1994 meeting and to have County officials at the meeting to further explain the surcharge. Fourth and Wilkins Sewer Problem "--.,, \ City Attorney Magnuson and City Coordinator Kriesel informed the Council that raw sewage was flowing into the 4th Street ravine because a household sanitary sewer was connected to the storm sewer. Motion by Councilmember Kimble, seconded by Councilmember Cwnrnings to authorize the City Engineer to obtain bids and proceed with corrective work on the 4th and Wilkins Street storm sewer based on the low bid.
