Avenue South and Burlington Street.
5. Discus~ion of Recycling Issue.
6. Possible Discussion of Solid Waste Rate Increase.

The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Abrahamson.
Present: Councilmembers Bodlovick, Farrell, Opheim (arrived
at 4:45 p.m.), and Mayor Abrahamson
Absent: Councilmember Kimble

LIBRARY AIR CONDITIONER AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL RETROFIT

Hotion by Councilmember Bodlovick, seconded by Councilmember
Farrell to approve an air conditioner and temperature control
retrofit for the Library at cost of $6,121. (All in favor)
HOSPITAL/MEDICAL INSURANCE INCREASE
City Coordinator Kriesel discussed an increase in
hospital/medical insurance rates which includes added
coverage. Council determined that more information is needed
before a decision can be made.

DISCUSSION OF RECYCLING ISSUE
(Counci1member Opheim arrived)
City Coordinator Kriesel has discussed several issues with
Jim Junker, Junker Sanitation. One is the possibility of
opening the dump on a regular basis for residents to drop off
their brush, rather than having it picked up on the regular
route. The other issue is a drop-off recycling center versus
curb-side service. Council determined that the residents of
the City should be surveyed for their preference.

DISCUSSION OF SOLID WASTE RATE INCREASE

Community Development Director Russell informed Council of
the results of the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission's
Public Hearing regarding the capital budget which was held
today. Councilmember Opheim gave testimony at the hearing.
The next meeting of the HWCC will be August 2, 1988, when the
final decision will be made.
Hotion by Councilmember Bodlovick, seconded by Councilmember
Farrell to have two City representatives attend the next meeting
of the MWCC on August 2. (All in favor!
OTHER BUSINESS
Hotion by Councilmember Farrell, seconded by Councilmember Opheim
to set a Public Hearing for August 2, 1988, at 7:00 p.m.
