STILLWATER CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES
June 25, 1985
5:00 P.M.
The Meetin9 was called to order by Mayor Peterson.
Present:
Councilmembers 80dlovick, Kimble, MacOonald and
Mayor Peterson.

DISCUSSION OF INCREASE IN GARBAGE RATES
Mr. James Junker was present to discuss with Council an increase
in 9arbage rates. Mr. Junker presented data to the Council
indicating a $91,000 increase in new costs to Junker Sanitation,
including a $3.00 per ton state-wide tax and a $1.00 per ton
land-fill cost. Mr. Junker said that in addition to that, the
costs for the clean-up (spring, summer, and fall) were over
$26,OOu. Mr. Junker stated he did not expect the City to pick up
all the new costs, that he expected to absorb some of these.He
suggested a 65~ increase per household for regular pick-up and a
35~ increase per household for the spring clean-up. The City
Council reviewed the information submitted by Mr. Junker and
after discussion passed the following motion:
Motion by Councilmember Kimble, seconded by Councilmember
MacDonald to place on the agenda for July 2, 1985 Council Meeting
the first reading of Ordinance No. 637, Amending Stillwater City
Code, Garbage and Rubbish, Chapter 30, Sub. 8., to increase the
garbage r~te from $7.60 to $8.60. (All in favor)
Councilmember Bodlovick requested a financial profit and loss
statement from Mr. Junker next year.
Council directed the Summer Clean-up will be held on July 13 and
14, 1985.
MULLER BOAT WORKS - N.P. RR LAND LEASE
Mr.Robbie Muller and Doug Clint were present to discuss the sale
of Muller Boat Works and leasing the stip of land owned by the
N.P.R.R. and its successors to the new owners which is leased to
Muller Boat Works at the present time. The new property owners
would like a guarantee that the property will remain as is and
available for use by the marina. City Attorney Magnuson conveyed
to Mr. Kriesel that this is an important piece of property as far
as the downtown transportation parking network is concerned and

insure these rights. He would be more comfortal!le in making some
assurance rath~r than a guarantee or agreement to allow the pro-
perty to be used by the owners of the marina. Discussion fol-
lowed on possible solutions between Council, Mr. Muller and Mr.

Mr.Scherber and his successors will have the same rights as the
general public now has for roadway and parking purposes.
