COUNTY FACILITIES EXPANSION
The Stillwater City Council met at the Washington County Government Center
with the County Board of Commissioners and Councilmembers of
other Washington County municipalities to discuss mutual concerns.
County Staff presented plans for expansion of county facilities, including
jail facility expansion. The plans were based on a study of county needs
from the present to the year 2,010. The plans included a restrained
scenario (potential of 465,000 total sq. footage) and an expanded scenario
(potential of 533,000 total sq. footage). The restrained scenario would
include a 192 bed jail facility expandable to a 240 bed facility. The
discussion also included ideas for decentralized facilities and the need
for expanded parking facilities.
