HomeMy WebLinkAbout8359 (Res.) ;1Il, I .. , " r RESOLUTION NO. 8359 REQUESTING VARIANCE TO MSA 169-105 W. MULBERRY ST. FROM NO. 4TH ST. TO NO. EVERETT ST. WHEREAS, the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation has established standards for roadway design; and WHEREAS, in order to utilize state aid monies, it is necessary to meet such standards; and r WHEREAS, West Mulberry St. between No. 4th St. and No. Everett St. is on such a state aid system; and WHEREAS, West Mulberry St. is in need of reconstruction because of age, surface condition and the need for sanitary sewer and water service replacement; and WHEREAS, the difficult terrain with steep slopes and steep intersections of cross streets requires slope easements along existing residential properties to reconstruct West Mulberry St. in compliance with state-aid standards; and WHEREAS, the City of Stillwater is of the opinion that this will create a hardship on the residences and that the proposed design is superior and preferable to the normal state-aid standards; and WHEREAS, to implement this requires a variance from said standards; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Stillwater .requests a variance from minimum design standards for minimum stopping sight distance on crest vertical curves and headlight sight distance on sag vertical curves along West Mulberry St. (MSA 169-105) from No. 4th St. to No. Everett St. The request is for a variance from 14 MCAR Section 1.5032, H.I.C. Rules for State-Aid Operations under Minnesota Statute, Chapters 162 and 163 as amended, so as to permit a 50' long vertical curve at centerline station 20+38.00; a 50' long vertical curve at centerline station 21+00; a 100' long vertical curve at centerline station 24+00; a 50' long vertical curve at centerline station 27+00; a 25' long vertical curve at centerline station 27+46; and a 25' long vertical at centerline station 27+91.
