November 15, 2006
Present: David Johnson and Linda Countryman, Stillwater Township
David Junker, City of Stillwater
Others: Stillwater Community Development Director Bill Turnblad and
Stillwater City Attorney David Magnuson
Chair Johnson called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.
Case No. ZAT/06-04 A request by a resident of The Legends neighborhood to amend the
Zoning Ordinance to allow an increase in the driveway width at the curb line from 12 feet to 18
feet in his neighborhood.
Mr. Turnblad briefly reviewed the proposed ordinance amendment. He noted that the change
would only be in the CR, Cottage Residential zoning district. The request is to allow a driveway
to have up to 18 feet of width on the street to make turning into a driveway easier. Currently
only 12 feet is allowed. The driveway would taper from 18 feet at the curb line to a maximum of
12 feet at the property line.
Mr. Johnson opened the public hearing, and no testimony was offered.
Mr. Junker noted there had been discussion of various options and driveway configurations, but
that the current proposal seemed to be the most reasonable.
Mr. Junker moved approval of the zoning ordinance amendment. Mrs. Countryman seconded
the motion, which passed on a vote of 3-0.
