The chairman, Morris Stenerson, called the meeting to order at 9 p.m.
He stated the Commission is to meet four -,times a year (.March, April,
September and October) and is charged with the responsibility to
survey the buildings of Stillwater and designate historic buildings
to the state, nation or community.
The ordinance requires us to
1) Survey of the town
Mr. Stenerson states that RTR has partially started. He
stated we must start to designate individual buildings,
historic districts or the -me nomination (.like buildings)
There may be more than one theme.
2) Federal Government needs to approve. They require a concise
description of all the buildings.
3) Guidelines for historic districts (regulate new construction,
remodeling, signs, etc.)
The question was raised whether or not funding might be needed. Mr.
Stenerson stated there is a monthly publication of clippings to keep
informed of what is being done in the United States with -regards to
preservation.
Motion by Barbara Avise, seconded by Ron Newman to have chairman,
Morris Stenerson, assisted temporarily by Josephine Vani,a, to compile
a proposed list of historic buildings.
