The meeting was called to order at 7:55 p.m. by chairman Morris Stenerson on
Wednesday, December 19, 1984.
Members present were: Morris Stenerson, Dean Miller, Rob Hamlin, Dean Marlette,
Jerry Fontaine, Thomas Farrell, Ron Vilmo and Josephine Vania.
Mr. Stenerson informed members that the Washington County Historical Society has
suggested that the armory and a couple houses be included in the proposed
boundaries for the historical district.
There was considerable discussion regarding tax credits. Businesses are entitled
now to 20% tax credit for remodeling and building. If the historical district
is approved, certain guidelines would need to be complied with for the 25% credit.
If those guidelines were not complied with both the 20% and the 25% would be lost.
The next step of the Commission is to catalog each building in the proposed
district. Needed on each building are dates and a short paragraph of the history.
Motion by Thomas Farrell, seconded by Dean Miller, to leave the boundaries as
originally proposed.
It was the concensus of the members to propose the boundaries to the Council
before cataloging each building.
Motion by Thomas Farrell, seconded by Jerry Fontaine, to adjourn at 8:55 P.m.
