1-mutes of meeting October 12, 1959
Meeting called to order at 7:45 PM by Chairman George Ste;nnes.
Roll Call showed the following absent: Johnston, Mulvey, Schwantes,
Bergin, Dewhurst and Hagen.
Letters of recommendation from Crookston, on Community Planning &
Design Associatos and from 'Villlnar on. ilorrel 8c Nic,. ols were read by
Chairman Ste"nnes. Loth were excellent.
Contact committee is to contact various groups in our school district
with an invitation to participates or join with the City Planning Com-
mission to the mutual advantage of all.
Jarmeo Sirpson, Cite Councilman, attended the n1ceting and explained
council action in regard to funds for the Commission.
Discussion followed in regard to ern€;agi ng one of the two firms under
consideration to carry out the: initial phase of an overall plan for the
City of Stillwater.
On motion by Handevidt, seconded by Hooley and unanimously carried the
Commission rccoimncnde;d that Community Planning & Design Associates be
retained by the City Council to complete the first phase of an ovarall
plan.
NOTE: The Council by resolution did so on October 13, 1959.
Tentative date for a public meeting was set for November 23, 1959.
Sccretary instructed to notify Tom IIodne of Co gmunity I'lannin.g & Design
Associates and to i!rite a letter to Jamcs Knight.
Meeting adjourned.
Following adjournment a fine film on Community Planning was shown by
George Schmit through the courtesy of the Northern States Power Company.
