The first meeting of the newly appointed Planning & toning
Commission was called to order by Mayor Madsen at 7:45 PM, May 7, 1959.
Mayor Madsen appointlad ChF,rles Thompson as acting secretary.
Members present were Axel Brosell, Richard Dewhurst, I. A. Bergen,
Glenn Johnston, James Mulvey and Wally Handevidt.
Mayor Madsen acted as chairman and explained some of the problems
facing the city as well as the duties of the Commission. A lengthy and
interesting discussion followed. The commission is to explore the
possibilities of acquiring professional aid from existing state agencies
and other sources.
The election of a chairman was discussed and it was decided to
postpone such election until the next meeting of the Commission.
Mr. Mulvey nominated Charles Thompson (ex—officio member of the
commission) for the office of secretary. Mr. Bergen seconded the
nomination. There were no other nominations. Charles Thompson was
unanimously elected secretary.
The date and place of the next meeting was set for � 7:3OPM

The meeting adjourned at 9045 PM.
