Minutes of meeting March 13, 1961
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Stennes
Present were Stennes, Dewhurst, Handevidt, Johnston, Schwantes, Bourdaghs,
Smith, Oriel, and Mr. Alcorn, Mr. Olson and Mr. Rydeen from Stillwater Township.
Absent: Bergen, Mulvey, Hooley, Hagen, Crane and Melstrom.
Motion was made, seconded and passed to dispense with reading of minutes.
They were approved as mailed to each member.
Mrs. Hayes and Mr. Melstrom attended the District Planning meeting and
Mr. Bourdaghs and Mr. Melstrom attended the Stillwater Township meeting.
Mr. Bourdaghs reported that the township is willing and anxious to cooperate
with Stillwater planning.
A short discussion was held on the application form to be used by those
applying for special use permit. Mrs. Hayes is preparing an application form. „ '�
A report by Mr. Bourdaghs was given for the committee that was to investigate
the highway ring road plan. The commission and city must get behind a high-
way plan suitable to the city or the highway department will proceed on their
own plans which at the present stage does not seem to be the best advantage
of the city.
Tom Hodne presented a, detailed sketch of the downtown ring road. A general
discussion followed.
A motion was made by Mr. Bourdaghs that Mr. Hodne prepare as soon as possible
a final sketch based on the general sketch discussed and to include the western
by-pass route for the commission to present to all interested parties for
approval. Mr. Schwantes aeconded. Motion passed.
Mr. Stennes discussed the all day conference for statewide planning at the
University of Minnesota on March 20th. An effort was made to get someone to
attend.
Mrs. Oriel discussed the problem of publicity and is to try to work out a
program.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
