APPROVING THE 2017-2018 LABOR AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF STILLWATER AND LOCAL 49 INTERNATIONAL UNION OF OPERATING
ENGINEERS
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Stillwater, MN that the 2017-2018 Labor
Agreement between the City of Stillwater and Local 49 International Union of Operating
Engineers, as on file with the City Clerk is hereby approved with the following changes:
• Contract Duration - 2 year agreement,January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018;
• Wages
o Implementation of Classification Compensation System effective January 1,2017:
• Effective 1/1/17, employee placed on step in new pay structure at
designated grade that provides wage rate that is equal to or greater than
12/31/16 base wage and longevity pay combined
• Annual step movement effective the first full pay period following July 1,
2018 and thereafter,subject to satisfactory performance evaluation
• Delete longevity pay references
• Standards developed for movement from MW II to MW III, etc., and
accompanying step adjustment
• A new Maintenance Worker II may be placed up to and including Step 3
upon hire
o General Wage Increase: 2.25% increase effective January 1, 2017; 2.5% increase
effective January 1, 2018;
• Health Insurance - Increase employer contribution by $15 per month per member
effective March 1, 2017,and $15 per month per member effective March 1, 2018;
• Overtime-In lieu of overtime compensation,an employee may earn compensatory time.
No more than forty (40) hours of compensatory time may be carried at any time.
Employees with more than forty (40) hours of compensatory time will be paid for any
accrued hours over forty (40).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Stillwater City Council authorizes the Mayor and
City Clerk to sign the agreement.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Stillwater this 16th day of May, 2017.
