HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-06-27 PRC minutesCITY OF STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING June 27, 2016 Present: Chairman Linda Amrein, Commissioners Bill McGlynn, Sam Nelson, Sandy Snellman, Council Representative Mike Polehna Absent: Commissioners David Brandt, Scott Christensen, Rob McGarry Staff present: Public Works Superintendent Tim Moore APPROVAL OF MINUTES Possible approval of May 23, 2016 Parks Commission meeting minutes Commissioner Snellman pointed out typos on page 2, Bike Tune -Up Station, paragraph one should read "Mr. Moore passed out a proposal ..." and "Damage due to vandalism will be replaced at no cost ..." Commissioner Nelson requested an addition on page 1, Lily Lake Association, to read "... and asked if the City would assume responsibility for clearing the ice but mentioned that if not, the Association has resources to do this." Commissioner Nelson pointed out a typo on page 2, Park Tour June 27, 2016, should read "It was the consensus of the Commission ..." Motion by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Chairman Amrein, to approve the May 23, 2016 meeting minutes as corrected. All in favor, 4-0. OPEN FORUM There were no public comments. COMMISSION ITEMS/TOPICS Trash Chairman Amrein expressed concern about the amount of trash in park areas. She suggested an adopt -a -park program. Councilmember Polehna said Washington County uses East Suburban Resources to help clean up some of the parks for a small fee. Superintendent Moore said he would check into this. He said a City summer crew cleans bathrooms, park trash and ballfields every day. Fourth of July Event Councilmember Polehna provided an update on planned Fourth of July activities. Bench Project Superintendent Moore shared an invitation for the Parks Commission to attend a student presentation on the Jan George Bench Project on June 29 at Stillwater Junior High. Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting June 27, 2016 INFORMATION ITEMS Park Tour: a. Bridgeview Park and the steps near the Oasis Cafe; b. Lily Lake Bathrooms: c. Pickle Ball Courts at Northland Park The Commission held its annual park tour. Following the park tour, Commissioners met at the home of Rob McGarry for the annual summer social. No official business was conducted at that time. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Chairman Amrein, seconded by Commissioner Snellman, to adjourn. All in favor, 4-0.
