HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-036 RESOLUTION NO. 2014-036 A RESOLUTION TEMPORARILY ALLOWING EXCEPTIONS TO THE 30-DAY TEMPORARY SIGN PROVISIONS FOR CERTAIN PROPERTIES LOCATED WITHIN THE HIGHWAY 36 CORRIDOR WHEREAS, as per Section 31-509, Sign Regulations, of the municipal code of the City of Stillwater, a 30-day temporary sign permit may be granted by the Community Development Director for special business events; and WHEREAS, as per Section 31-101, Definitions, a temporary sign is any sign constructed of paper, cloth, canvas or other similar lightweight material and signs intended to be displayed for a short period of time; and WHEREAS the Community Development Director generally limits the number of temporary signs to no more than three,30 day periods per year per business;and WHEREAS, the City of Stillwater recognizes that with anticipated St. Croix Crossing construction activities occurring, businesses adjacent to Highway 36 and along Greeley Street South, as depicted on the attached Exhibit A, may suffer from lack of visibility and easy access and should be given special provisions for banners,at least on a temporary basis; and WHEREAS, the City Council shall consider by resolution that the City will temporarily allow exceptions to the 30-Day Temporary Sign provisions; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Stillwater hereby approves the following: The City Council of the City of Stillwater will allow for each businesses identified on Exhibit A an exception to the 30-Day Temporary Sign provisions in accordance with the following conditions: 1. Those business identified on the attached Exhibit A shall be permitted an exception allowing for a temporary banner to be in place from April 1 to October 31,2014. 2. All temporary banners must receive a Temporary Sign permit and shall comply with the provisions of Section 31-509 of the Stillwater Municipal Code. Ward, Clerk EXHIBIT A All those parcel depicted herein: Described by street address as: Those parcels, located in the City of Stillwater, lying north of Highway 36 and West Frontage Road, ranging between 1180 and 1570 West Frontage Road; and Those parcels, located in the City of Stillwater, lying north of Highway 36 and 60th Street North, identified as 13900, 14200, 14298 60th Street North and ranging between 14130 and 14480 60th Street North; and Those parcels, located in the City of Stillwater, lying east of Greely Street South, ranging between 1875 and 1905 Greeley Street South; and Those parcels, located in the City of Stillwater, lying west of Greely Street South, ranging between 1902 and 1940 Greeley Street South.
