Motion by McGarry, seconded by Snellman, to direct the group to work with staff on the planning phase and submit plans for approval at a later commission meeting. All in favor. Proposed Temporary Do_ Park Moore stated that the Friends of Stillwater Dog Park have requested a temporary dog park be created at the city snow storage area just west of the Jaycee Ball fields on Myrtle Street West. This property is used as a staging area for City projects as well as snow storage in the winter, composting for street sweepings and a marshaling yard in case of storm damage. The dog park would be located on the northern portion of the fenced in area and would be a temporary facility until a more suitable location can be found. In the event that the city needs to use the entire area for maintenance operations, use for a dog park will be suspended until such time that it can be made available. The Commission discussed the proposal. Updates on Park Projects Moore reported that the amphitheater in Lowell Park has been graded, topsoil placed and seeded. The contractor is completing the extension of the Pedestrian Plaza and the stage along the river is in the design process. Parking lot construction will begin on September 23 at Mulberry Street and progress south to Nelson Street. These figures do not include our regular events such as Summer Tuesday s or the Car Show. While reservations have risen slightly over the past 5 years, the number of people using the parks has increased by 25 %. With the improvements to Lowell Park and the continued popularity of Pioneer and Teddy Bear Park, the City may see increased demand in the future. This memo is intended as an update for the Commission. Staff will continue to work on ways to better provide service to the community using Stillwater's parks. 2013 Park Fees Report Thursday, October 24, 2013 Location # of Reservations # of People Total Amount Benson Park 3 260 $0.00 Heritage Square 1 60 $50.00 Legends Park 1 100 $50.00 Legends Parks 1 100 $35.00 Lily Lake Park 6 1530 $335.00 Lowell Park 22 1640 $1,735.00 Northland Park 3 600 $0.00 Pioneer Park 87 6660 $5,685.00 Pioneer Park & Lowell Park 1 150 $250.00 South Lowell Park 1 100 $0.00 Teddy Bear Park 62 1855 $6,235.00 Washington Square 42 2075 $1,920.00 Grand Total 230 15130 $16,295.00 2012 Park Fees Report Thursday, October 24, 2013 Location # of Reservations # of People Total Amount Heritage Park 1 150 $35.00 Heritage Square 1 100 $85.00 Legends Parks 1 100 $35.00 Lily Lake Park 11 1860 $1,380.00 Lowell Park 13 1135 $1,085.00 Northland Park 3 350 $0.00 Pioneer Park 88 5935 $5,675.00 Prairie Park 1 200 $0.00 Teddy Bear Park 54 1620 $5,790.00 Washington Square 37 1700 $2,060.00 Grand Total 210 13150 $16,145.00 2011 Park Fees Report Thursday, October 24, 2013 Location # of Reservations # of People Total Amount Brown's Creek Park 1 150 $0.00 Heritage Square 3 275 $185.00 Legends Park 1 50 $0.00 Legends Parks 1 100 $35.00 Lily Lake Park 8 2060 $900.00 Lowell Park 10 700 $1,000.00 Northland Park 4 300 $0.00 Pioneer Park 74 4980 $5,440.00 Prairie Park 1 200 $0.00 Teddy Bear Park 68 1882 $7,230.00 Washington Square 40 1755 $2,010.00 Grand Total 211 12452 $16,800.00 2010 Park Fees Report Thursday, October 24, 2013 Location # of Reservations # of People Total Amount Benson Park 2 130 $0.00 Heritage Park 1 200 $35.00 Legends Parks 1 100 $35.00 Lily Lake Park 10 2480 $925.00 Lowell Park 21 2260 $1,790.00 Northland Park 3 250 $0.00 Pioneer Park 78 5288 $4,665.00 Prairie Park 1 200 $0.00 Teddy Bear Park 65 1935 $6,660.00 Veterans Memorial Site 2 30 $35.00 Washington Square 35 1590 $1,830.00 Grand Total 219 14463 $15,975.00 2009 Park Fees Report Thursday, October 24, 2013 Location # of Reservations # of People Total Amount Benson Park 1 60 $0.00 Heritage Park 1 200 $35.00 Heritage Square 1 100 $35.00 Lily Lake Park 15 2625 $890.00 Lowell Park 9 518 $820.00 Northland Park 3 250 $0.00 Pioneer Park 79 5122 $4,680.00 Prairie Park 1 200 $0.00 Teddy Bear Park 51 1731 $5,435.00 Washington Park 1 75 $35.00 Washington Square 37 1455 $1,875.00 Grand Total 199 12336 $13,805.00 ater /* i T H E B I R T H P L A C E O F M I N N E S T A Memo To: Parks and Recreation Commission From: Tim Moore, Public Works Superintendent Date: October 24, 2013 Re: 5 -Year CIP Work Plan Progress DISCUSSION Below is the 5 -year CIP work plan provided to the Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting on July 25, 2011.
