ADOPTING ASSESSMENT FOR GEO CODE 21.030.20.34.0036 RELATING BUILDING
REMOVAL AND CLEANUP (LI 400)
WHEREAS, the residence and accessory building located at 402 W. Sycamore have been inspected by
the Washington County Health Department and deemed a public health hazard; and
WHEREAS, the residence and accessory building located at 402 W. Sycamore have been inspected by
the City of Stillwater Building Official and deemed a public safety hazard; and
WHEREAS, an abatement order was issued to the property owner on October 4, 2012; and
WHEREAS, bids were solicited for the demolition of the residence and accessory building; and
WHEREAS, at the November 13, 2012, the City Council awarded the contract for building removal and
cleanup; and
WHEREAS, the costs of asbestos abetment and demotion is to be certified to GEO Code
21.030.20.34.0036.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF STILLWATER,
MINNESOTA:
1. Such proposed assessments, as listed below, is hereby accepted and shall constitute the special
assessment against the lands named therein.
Building Removal and Cleanup $16,964.32
2. Property owners may at anytime prior to certification of the assessment to the county auditor, pay the
entire assessment on such property, with interest accrued to the date of payment, to the City of
Stillwater Treasurer. NO INTEREST WILL BE CHARGED IF THE ENTIRE ASSESSMENT
IS PAID BY NOVEMBER 15, 2013. If the assessment is not paid by November 15, 2013, accrued
interest from the date of the adoption of the assessment roll through December 31, 2013 will be
added with the first installment due in 2014. If payment is not received by November 15, 2013, the
amount listed above will be collected over a 5 year period with interest added at 4.0% per year on the
unpaid balance. The yearly installments will be collected with the property taxes that are paid to
Washington County. At anytime thereafter, prior to November 15th of any year, pay the remaining
principal balance (in whole or part) to the City of Stillwater.
3. The clerk shall forthwith transmit a certified duplicate of this assessment to the county auditor to be
extended on the property tax lists of the county. Such assessments shall be collected and paid over in
the same manner as other municipal taxes.
Adopted by the Council this 21" day of May, 2013. �
