fencing off a portion of Water Street and eight parking stalls in the Riverview Lot. The
Council requested notification of all property owners within 350 feet and that the Parking
Commission decide on a fair price for the parking stalls that will be lost for the staging.
Bill said the notice to property owners went out and the only response was from the
President of the Stillwater Mills on Main Condo Association, requesting construction
parking not be allowed on main street. The Commission discussed an appropriate fee
and other possible restrictions. While reviewing the proposed plan the Commission
discovered 11 spaces would be lost, not the eight originally thought.
A motion was made and seconded to:
set a fee of $3,575 (which would be placed in the Parking Fund)
prohibit parking on main street by Adolfson & Peterson Construction (general
contractor)or any of the sub contractors
restrict parking for Adolfson & Peterson Construction and its subs to the gravel area
north of Mulberry and east of the Desch building
require Adolfson & Peterson Construction to communicate and enforce these
parking restrictions
allow Adolfson & Peterson Construction to use fencing, block off Water Street, and
use designated parking spaces for nine months beginning July 27, 2009 (after
Lumberjack Days)
The motion was approved in a voice vote.

starts, it will be open up for public use. Lot #7 will be blocked off all day for use by
public safety agencies supporting the race. Lot # 5 will be used by business owners and
their employees.
Camera update John updated us on his search for grant money. Last Monday he submitted a grant for
$11,700 in stimulus money for the camera system. The total cost for cameras for
downtown and parking ramp cameras will probably be $90,000 to $100,000.
Parking ramp update Bill said next week the contractor is expected to begin pouring cement for the on-grade
th
slab, and the pouring for the next level will begin on June 12.
Parking enforcement John said the City Council discussed at their recent retreat the possible removal and/or Bill and John will keep the
officer’s vehicle reassignment of the parking enforcement officer’s vehicle. In the ensuing discussion, Commission updated on City Council
great concern was expressed about the possibility that this equipment (paid for and discussion about this topic.
properly equipped from the Downtown Parking Commission budget) would be removed
or reassigned without its approval. Commissioners believe they have an obligation to
supply city staff with safe equipment. They also think the parking enforcement officer’s
vehicle is an important part of the police department’s fleet, for example, as this issue
was being discussed, the parking enforcement truck was being used to haul “no parking”
signs for the Stillwater Marathon.
Next Meeting The next meeting will be Thursday, June 18, 2009, 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.
