Time: 7 :00 P.M., March 7, 1988
Present: Marlene Workman, Dick Hauer, Ray Zaworski, Maury Stenerson,

1. The Commission reviewed the updated draft of the CLG Grant application.
The Grants review will be March 22, 1988 at the Minnesota Historical
Society, Fort Snelling. The Commission was encouraged to attend.
2. The Commission discussed the idea of a Spring Public Workshop.
Terry Alliband expressed his concern that the Commission may be moving too
fast; the Community must be educated in order to overcome the barriers
that exist about government involvement in local presentation.
g
Mdurttir Lodge suggested the following ideas which may create interest and
ideas for Preservation Week in May:
1. Publish news releases about the HPC, public meetings, workshops,
etc
2. Letters or flyers to residents and businesses on the goals of the
Heritage Preservation Commission.
3. Education on the value of preservation which in turn will create a
strong sense of civic pride.
4. Video taping the Heritage Preservation meetings.
The Commission agreed to wait on the Public Workshop and hold a meeting with
the Planning Commission and City Council in the near future on the goals and
objectives of the Heritage Preservation Commission and possibly have a guest
speaker from another community talk about preservation in their community.
3. Members of the Commission will write down some basic goals and objectives
they feel are important. Please send them to Ann at the Planning
Department.
4. Ann will contact other communities on their historic preservation efforts.
Communities that will'be contacted are Hastings and Faribault.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann Pung - Terwedo
