Discussion by the commission surrounded the need for revenue streams to cover operating costs for the ramp, equipment costs, short and long -term maintenance costs. All these costs are estimated to be $345.00 a year per parking spot. The ramp was funded by TIFF funds and therefore the focus of the ramp needs to be on economic development. After detailed discussion it was decided to vote on the request in three separate motions. 1. A motion was made and seconded to recommend to the city council to grant Rivertown Commons eight spaces. In a voice vote the motion passed 2 to 1. 2. A motion was made and seconded to recommend to the city council that spaces granted to Rivertown Commons be reserved spaces at a cost of $25 per month per space for 2010. A motion was made and seconded to recommend to the city council that six of the eight reserved spaces be on the north wall of Level 1 and the other two spaces be on the abutting spaces on the east wall. The motion passed in a unanimous voice vote. Location of reserved ramp Bill presented a recommendation that reserve spaces be placed along the east wall of parking spaces the ramp. The commission approved this recommendation and requested there be no more than ten spaces and if city staff thinks there is a need for more that this request be brought back to the commission. Request for parking ramp Bill requested that up to $8000 from the parking funds be used to pay for the cost of a entrance sign funds sign at the entrance to the ramp. Staff had hoped this sign would be paid for out of constructions funds. However, it appears there may not be any extra funds for the sign due to last minute change orders. A motion was made and seconded to approve Bill's request. The motion passed in a unanimous voice vote. Administrative secretarial John explained that two of the city's administrative secretaries are retiring at the end of assistance January and they do a lot of support work for the parking commission. The city council is filling in only 1.5 employee positions. The Parking commission may be called about to assist in funding for a half of a position. After discussion there was unanimous approval of the rates the Parking Commission recommended. The City Council did set a condition that the rates be reviewed in 6 months.
