HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-03-28 PRC packetCITY OF STILLWATER STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION NOTICE OF MEETING MONDAY, MARCH 28, 2011 AT 7:00 PM The City of Stillwater Parks and Recreation Commission will meet on Monday, March 28, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Stillwater City Hall, 216 North Fourth Street. AGENDA 1. Open Forum - The Open Forum is a portion of the meeting to address the Board on subjects which are not a part of the meeting agenda. The Board may take action or reply at the time of the statement or may give direction to staff regarding investigation of the concerns expressed. Out of respect for others in attendance, please limit your comments to 5 minutes or less. 2. North Lowell Park and Downtown Pedestrian Walkway Open House Commission Items /Topics North Lowell Park and Pedestrian Walkway Open House The City of Stillwater is hosting an open house on plans for North Lowell Park and a downtown Pedestrian Walkway. When: Monday, March 28, 2011 7:00 to 8:30 PM Where: Stillwater City Hall Council Chambers 216 N 4th St, Stillwater, MN Who: YOU! The purpose of the Open House is to discuss and review concept plans on the North Lowell Park Master Plan and the Downtown Pedestrian Walkway. Discussion will focus on: 1. Reviewing two concepts for the North Lowell Park Master Plan. 2. Reviewing four concepts for the Pedestrian Walkway. 3. Reviewing a preliminary layout and design for a new bathroom facility within the Pedestrian Walkway. This is the first of a number of meetings the City will host to discuss the plan and begin refining it prior to developing final construction plans for the project. Information about the project, including proposed design layouts, will be on display and available as handouts. Representatives from the design team headed by Sanders Wacker Bergly of St. Paul and staff from the City of Stillwater will be on hand to answer questions and receive public input. This is an opportunity to review plan, provide feedback, and provide additional ideas that could be incorporated into the plans. During this time the team has been focus on: 1. Refining two concepts for the North Lowell Park Master Plan. 2. Developing four concepts for the Pedestrian Walkway. 3. Creating a preliminary layout and design for the bathroom facility. Attached are the concept plans that have been developed to date. The concepts provide a verity of ideas that could be implemented and are by no means meant to limit what could be developed within the project area and many of the elements are interchangeable between the plans. A public information meeting/ open house will be held on Monday, March 28 at 7 PM in the Council Chambers with the Park and Recreation Commission to present the plans to the public and seek input on them. Bill Sanders of SWB will lead the discussion with members of the design team also in attendance. Notices of the meeting have been sent out to owners within 350 feet of the project areas, the IBA, the CVB and the Chamber. This is the only item that will be on the commissions agenda Monday night.
