After watching the counc:il meeting last week
very upset at the idea of clo,ing the Levy road.
how much thought went into that proposal.
Mr. Farrell stated he couldn't see keeping i . ;'open for
the few locals that use it. Does Mr. Farrell wondkr why
local businesses are moving out of town and why ldlal
residence don't go do~n town? ~~
.
You had aloe al down town1 bus i nessman as k to ;~i t to
close that road until you start making all these changes and
improvements in the next year!or so. I can't believe this
has to be the first change.j ~

Have any of you checkeg in the Metro area wnere roads
were closed in parks to seEl.'what has happened .lhose parks
now are homes for the homeless - selling spots fQr drug
dealers and hangouts forutldesirables. If you.'ihought.tt

wait until you see how manyYfamilies use that pa~ then. You
would need full time police'''on foot to keep the tlJ'\wanted out

of there. Are you willing "to spend that kind of money? You
can only spread the department so thin. Work.tng;with Social
Services I know we hare thiJ~ kind or people in S€lllwater.

I truly hope you think this through before you vote on
it again.

As the Mayor and Councilwoman Bodlovick staied - once
again you are putting the cart before the horse.~ Eliminate
some of the traffic problems with a bridge so people have a
fighting chance on main street before you start putting more
cars out there. ~~.

Dear Mayor Abrahamson & Council Members-
I find it hard to believe that any of you would even
consider the idea of closing the Levy Road.
My family and many of my friends and their families have
been using that road for years. We've used it for alot of
different reasons.S\.lch as getting from one end of the town
to the other when traffic is tied up downtown, taking
friends down to look at the river, letting older people off
so they are able to sit down close to the river and enjoy
the view (which they would not be able to do if they were
forced to walk any distance).
.
The Levy road allows many families to take a break during
the day or evening and go for a ride down by the river.
It you close the road down who'S gOing to patrol down
theLe. Now a police officer is able to drive by and check
things out every so otten. Are you going to pull one of
three officers that we have on duty from 7 p.m.to 3 a.m.
just to be down there?
Many of my friends and myself feel that by leaving that road
open to local traffic you will have aiot less problems.
What with the parking problems, the new meter cost to park,
and the added hours to pay meters that you people want to
set, plus the traffic problems, and the docks, restaraunts
etc. being put down on the river tront, we are running out
of place to even view the river from. We are qUiCkly
running out of reasons to even go downtown anymore.
