HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-01-07 HPC MINHERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION, MINUTES The Heritage Preservation Commission met Monday, January 7, 1991 at 7:00 P.M. in the Public Works Department of City Hail, 216 North Fourth Street. Present: Duane Hubbs, Chairperson, Marlene Workman, Ray Zaworski, Bob Kimbrel, Shawn Draper, and Jeff Johnson. Others: Ann Pung- Terwedo. 1. The Commission reviewed the work program for 1991. Discussion followed about applying for CLG Grants for working on an Economic Development Brochure and /or developing a plaque program for Downtown Stillwater. The deadline for draft grant applications was January 5, 1991 and final deadline is January 25, 1991. Ann will pursue the feasibility of applying for a grant at this late date. 2. There was a brief discussion on RTR's house research being conducted. 3. The Committee reviewed the Phase I improvements for the Downtown. Discussion followed on a letter which will be drafted to the City Council. The group made the following statements on the elements of the plan in relation to design: - The improvements expand the pedestrian environment of Stillwater; - recalls and is reflective of the early development of the community, adds to the attractiveness of Downtown, meets the goals of the original plan adopted in 1988 as stated in Resolution No. 7 986 ; - and is cohesive to the continuity of the Downtown and does not intrude on existing historic buildings but complements the whole area. Marlene Workman made a motion to draft a letter with these statements. Ray Zaworksi seconded the motion. All approved. 4. The Commission reviewed two applicants names, Katherine Francis and Chuck Dougherty, to fill Dick Hauer's position on the Heritage Preservation Commission. Katherine Francis was recommended by a unanimous vote, 3 -1, to fill the vacancy. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Ann Pung- Terwedo
