HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION
The Heritage Preservation Commission met August 1, 1988 at 7:00 P.M. in the
City Hall Council Chambers.
Members Present: Marlene Workman, Ray Zaworski, Dick Hauer, Maury Stenerson,
Shirley Tibbetts, Terry Alliband.
Members Absent: Maureen Lodge.
Others: Ann Pung - Terwedo
1. The Commission discussed the present Stillwater /Houlton Interstate Bridge.
A comment was made about possibly moving the bridge to a new location but
where would you put it? The Commission feels that every effort should be
made to maintain the bridge at its present location.
The Commission made a motion to reaffirm the City Council's resolution on
favoring the Southern route alternative for the new bridge. The historic
quality and integrity of Downtown Stillwater would be negatively affected
if the middle alternative was selected.
2. The Commission discussed the Kolliner Building. The Owner's have been
discussing the possibility of nominating it to the National Register of
Historic Places. They have been working with the State Historical Society.
A meeting with the Owners and Representatives from the State Historical
Society has been set for September. Also, a tour will be set up with Bruce
Klosowsky, an officer with the Masons, to tour the building. The goal is
to locally nominate the building.
3. The Commission briefly discussed the Downtown Plan.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann Pung - Terwedo
