HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION
OCTOBER 5, 1987

Time: 7:00 P.M.
Present: Terry Alliband, Maurice Stenerson, Marlene Workman, Ann
Pung - Terwedo, Dick Hauer, Shirley Tibbetts, Maureen Lodge.
Others: Steve Russell
1. Steve discussed the Downtown Plan and how the Historic Preservation

existing conditions must be done to see where an Historic District fits in.
Maury gave his input on previous work done on the Historic District in
Downtown Stillwater.
2. The Historic District was reviewed and comments were expressed:
- Marlene stated that a larger district should be established for local
reasons.
- Terry agreed with Marlene and stated that the State and National
District should be separate and much smaller than the local district.
The Commission agreed that the starting point for the Historic District should
be to inventory every site in the Downtown Planning Area.
3. The Commission discussed the eligibility of the Stillwater - Houlton
Interstate Bridge to the National Register. The Commission will submit the
bridge with approval of the Planning Commission and the City Council. A
letter has been sent to Planning Commission and City Council for approval.
4. Ann stated that she would withdraw her position as a member of the
Heritage Preservation Commission.
The meeting adjourned at 9 :00 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
