ENGINE 328 PARKING AND LOADING AREA
Discussion was held concerning the arrival and departure locations for the trips
made by Engine 328. DENNIS JOHNSON, representing the Minnesota Transportation
Museum. told the Council that the major concern was the site selection and in
® having adequate security around the train during arrivals and departures. Mr.
Johnson felt that it would be necessary to fence off the area around the train
leaving openings at the loading points.
MAYOR JUNKER suggested using rope rather than fencing. This was found to be accept-
able to everyone concerned. The rain (or loading area) would be roped on both sides
of the train.
The Council decided that the train would be allowed to park between Chestnut and
Nelson Street on Friday, August 14th. After the welcoming ceremonies the train
would then make its trips north and back again but would thereafter stop at Myrtle
Street.
MAYOR JUNKER had contacted Mr. Jack Hooley and was given permission to use Hooley's
Northeast Parking Lot for the passenger loading area. This area would also be
used for the train rides on Saturday and Sunday with loading and unloading to take
place on the east side of the train.
MAYOR JUNKER also stated that he would have about 20 volunteers to help with
security on the train area and park in general.
The City was requested and agreed to supply enough rope to secure the loading area
(Mayor Junker would supply the rope), and would also provide the train operators
with an air compressor and a tanker for water.
OTHER LUMBERJACK 4AYS ACTIVITIES
At an earlier meeting the Chamber of Commerce had asked the City to find them some
snow fencing for the beer garden area.
MR. KRIESEL informed the Council that an adequate supply of snow fencing was available.
