Councilwoman Bodlovick, Councilmen Mahoney, Mayor Junker Councilman Powell Charles Swenson, Local No. 49 Business Agent Monroe Wood Steward for Local No. 49 Acting City Clerk - Schnell City Attorney - Magnuson PRESS: None LOCAL NO. 49 WAGE NEGOTIATIONS CHARLES SWENSON, Local No. 49 Business Agent, stated there is only one issue and that is wages for the 1979 contract and felt that they should be brought up to the same positions in industry. Also left open in the original contract was the classifications of Senior Parkkeeper and Junior Parkkeeper and Senior Mechanic. He felt that Monroe classificationand therewould be a need u for f f same in the contrac t. The salary requests were as follows: Senior Mechanic, Senior Park$eeep9e per hour and Heavy Equipment Operator $9.20 per hour Junior Parkkeeper and Light Equipment Operator $ This would amount to a 29% increase over 1978 which are currently $7.54 for the higher classification and $7.02 for the lesser classification. On motion of Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilwoman Bodlovick, the Council took this proposal under advisement and will inform the union representative and steward within a reasonable length of time of their decision. (all in favor) ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: September 13, 1978 6:30 P. M. Peterson and FINANCE OFFICER On motion of Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilman Mahoney, a resolution was introduced "EMPLOYING NILE KRIESEL AS FINANCE OFFICER /COORDINATOR AT THE RATE OF $1,550 PER MONTH EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 1978 ". AYES -- Councilwoman Bodlovick, Councilmen Mahoney, Peterson and Mayor Junker NAYS - -None (see resolutions) POLICE OFFICERS Discussion was held about the employment of two police officers based on the information received from Mr. Abrahamson with his recommendations. Questions were raised as to why the women applicant's received lower scores on the oral interviews, and Mr. Magnuson felt that the q they answered very these questions. and it would be the manner in hec On motion of Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilwoman Bodlovick, that the full Council interview the first six names on the examination list. VOTE ON THE MOTION - NAYS-- CouncilmanCouncilwoman Mahoneyv and Mayoro ran Peterson Junker (MOTION DEFEATED) Further discussion was held about the possibility of not interviewing and who should be interviewed. On motion of Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilwoman Bodlovick, that the full Council interview the top applicants on the test scores and that the Acting City Clerk setup appointments for the said inter- views after she gets a confirmed date from the Mayor. M.) • • • • • • • • w' e-1 September 13, 1978 NELSON SCHOOL PROPERTY On motion of Councilman Mahoney, seconded by Councilman Peterson, the City Attorney was authorized to return the bid deposit to the Tim Welch Group for the Nelson School Proposal subject to the approval of the City Attorney. (all in favor) COUNTY ASSESSING The Council will meet with Mr. Burns at 7:15 P. M. on Monday, September 18, 1978. MISCELLANEOUS - -The Council agreed to meet with Mr. Serfling at 6:15 P. M. on September 26, 1978, regarding the contract for the Local No. 91 Council. - -On motion of Councilman Peterson, seconded by Councilman Mahoney, the Acting City Clerk was directed to send a claim from Cheryl A. Ross, 1521 West Olive Street, for damages done to her car on the corner of Mulberry and Martha Street to the McGarry- Kearney Insurance Company. (all in favor) - -On motion of Councilwoman Bodlovick, seconded by Councilman Peterson, the Council granted a 3.2 Beer and Liquor Permit to the Boyce Family for a family picnic at Pioneer Park on Sunday, September 16, 1978. (all in favor) RESOLUTIONS The following resolutions were read and on roll call were unanimously adopted: 1. Employing Nile Kriesel as Finance Officer /Coordinator. 2.
