City of Stillwater
Heritage Preservation Commission
August 4, 2008
Present: Vice Chair Jeff Johnson, Gayle Hudak and Council Liaison Robert Gag
Staff: Planner Mike Pogge
There was no quorum. Vice Chair Johnson apologized to those in attendance and noted
that the meeting could not be officially opened and no action taken. In the event that the
City Attorney decides the public hearings do not need to be re-notice, Mr. Johnson
invited public comment on the three scheduled public hearings.
There was no one present to comment on Case No. DEM/08-37. Tim Schmolke, 506 W.
Laurel St., spoke in favor of the requested demolition of a garage at 502 W. Laurel St.
(Case No. DEM/08-38). Mr. Schmolke stated the structure is in bad shape, and there are
safety issues involved. He said he favored the demolition and construction of a new
garage that would improve the value of both the property at 502 W. Laurel and his
property. He also stated he could understand the unreasonableness of trying to restore
the structure. There was no on present to comment on Case No. DEM/08-39.
Mr. Johnson told those in attendance that this meeting would be continued until 7 p.m.
Monday, August 18, 2008.
Respectfully submitted,
Sharon Baker
