CITY HALL, COUNCIL CHAMBERS 216 North Fourth Street AGENDA: 1. Approval of Minutes - May 21, 1986. 2. Budget Requests (i.e. Dick Blekum and Bob Bielenberg). 3. Report on Tennis Court(s) - Resurfacing. (Dick Blekum). 4. Discussion concerning "up-coming" Hockey Rink Rental (Bob Bielenberg). 5. Any New Business. NOTE: The main reason for this "Summer Meeting" is to get our budget requests to the City Council in plenty of time and all members should try to attend!!! STILLWATER RECREATION MEETING August 20, 1986 Members Present: John Benson, Wayne Wohlers, Jim Swanson, Linda Kluy, John Rahm, Tom Farrell, Roberta Opheim and Tom Thoreson. Also Present: Dick Blekum, Bob Bielenberg. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Linda Kluy to approve the minutes of May 21, 1986. Motion was seconded by John Benson. 1987 BUDGET REQUEST BY DICK BLEKUM The Recreation Commission went over the budget request. A motion was made by John Benson to approve the budget. The motion was seconded by Linda Kluy. 1987 BUDGET REQUEST BY BOB BIELENBERG (Ice Arena) A motion was made by John Benson to approve the budget request and seconded by Jim Swanson. ~ FALL AND SPRING ICE RENTAL FEElS A motion was made by John Benson to approve rental feels. The motion was seconded by John Rahm. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS (1) The tennis courts at Croixwood are now complete. (2) The new toilets and concession stand will be built in September 1986 at Lily Lake. NEXT MEETING The date and time for the next meeting will be November 12, 1986 at Dick Blekumls Shop, 1372 South Greeley Street at 7:00 P.M. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M. At the May 21, 1986 Recreation Commission meeting a tour was completed of the City parks. We found there is a need for some added playground equipment. We, as a Committee, would like to request $5,000.00 for equipment on this years bonding if available. Would you please bring this up at the next Council meeting or discuss this with Dick Blekum and Wayne Wohlers. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Thomas L. Thoreson Secretary . . June 3, 1986 Memo to: Mayor Harry Peterson From: Recreation Commission The Recreation Commission would like to give SPECIAL THANKS to BRAD MacDONALD for the support that Brad has given in his term with the Recreation Commission. Thoreson Secretary . ,- t ~ '-: STILLWATER RECREATION COMMISSION May 21, 1986 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Wayne Wohlers at 6:30 P.M. Members Present: Brad MacDonald, Wayne Wohlers, Tom Thoreson, John Benson. Members Absent: Jim Swanson, John Rahm, Duane Nelson, Linda Kluy. Also Presnt: Dick Blekum and Bob Bielenberg. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes for March 12, 1986 and April 16, 1986 meetings were approved. Linda Kluy was polled by phone to get the fifth vote. PARK TOUR . A tour was taken of eleven City Parks. 1. Ramsey-Grove - There is some room available for more equipment. Suggested items were a Merry-go-round and a Rock Candy Mountain. 2. Croixwood Northland Park (Lower) - Things needed here would be some swings and a Merry-go-round. It would be nice to have equipment to keep kids occupied when people are playing tennis or softball. 3. East and West Northland Park - No equipment. Lots of grass to maintain - open space - no use. 4. Nightingale #1 - Some grass to cut - no equipment. Nightingale #2 - All wooded - no grass to cut - no maintenance. 5. Sunrise Park - Little kids equipment. Two swings, 2 horses, slide, tettertoters, soccer field ballfield for small kids. Suggested item was possible softball field with land available. Nice park, maintained well. . 6. Washington Park - If more parks were like this one we wouldn't have to have park tours. The park is in an ideal location, nice equipment, picnic area is nice, ballfield. Park is maintained nicely. Gets lots of use. 7. Staples Park - Ballfield, skating rink in winter, 3 tennis courts, swings and teetertotters. No other equipment is needed. 8. Schulenberg Park - This park has swings, slide and a ballfield available. Does not get alot of use. No equipment is needed. 9. Pioneer Park - This park has pavilion, swings, slide, Rock Candy Mountain, restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables and best view in town. The River Valley Lions Club is donating a picnic shelter which will be put up by our Parks Department. No added equipment is needed. . . . .. -2- 10. Picnic Shelter - Mini Park by Lowell Inn - 2 picnic tables. No other equipment, very little maintenance. 11. Lowell Park - Picnic tables, restrooms. No playground equipment. Maintained very well. This concludes the Park Tour. We would like to thank Brad MacDonald for the use of his van. Also, this was Brad's last meeting. The Recreation Commission would like to thank Brad for his support and hope we get another Council- member that will be as active as he has been.
