Carried. Discuss Park Dedication Policy Requirements The Board reviewed and discussed the present Park Dedication Policy. e Tim Thomsen reported that there is currently $46,000 In the Park Dedication Fund. He also reported that $90,000 was requested In the budget for the new park at the Benson addition. Council approved $40,000 of that request. Rich Cummings questioned why the cash equivalency per dwelling unit decreases for higher density dwellings. Ann Pung- Terwedo will look into how other communities establish rates. Rich suggested that the League of Minnesota Cities would also have some information. Rich suggested that the Board request the City's Finance Director to trace the funding in the present Park Dedication Fund. Review of Park Dedication Requirements for Three Proposed Subdivisions 1) (SUB/94-22) Request is to subdivide a 5.2 acre parcel into 9 lots, with an additional lot of .35 acres dedicated to park land. Cash In lieu of land would amount to $3,600. The Board felt the parcel offered as park land would not be suitable for a park. Del Peterson asked if the Board could request Lot 2 and then sell it, resulting in more substantial funding for the Park Fund. Mike Polehna reiterated that the current policy is not adequate and needs to be updated. Ann stated that, if land IS requested, a purpose should to be defined for that land. e Motion by Del Peterson, seconded by Mike Polehna to refuse the land proposed as a park and to request that the Community Development e STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MINUTES MARCH 28, 1994 Director meet with the developer to find other suitable land that meets parks purposes. The request was approved by the Planning Commission, then denied by City Council. Tim discussed the new ADA safety requirements for playground equipment. He stated that so far the City is in compliance, but must have plans to upgrade the equipment. The upgrading does not have to be done at once. Adjournment Motion by Del Peterson, seconded by Steve Wolff to adjourn the meeting at 9:25 p.m. Carried.
