Mr. Thomsen showed the committee where the property lines to the park. Mr. Junker motioned
that as a park board they do not want to receive the property due to its size and accessibility, but
the board encourages the surrounding residents to maintain the property. Rich Cummings moved
to look into acquiring extra land to the Northeast side of the site not to exceed $7,500 with the
e condition that reasonable access to the park be provided. 5 opposed, 3 in favor.
LECUYER POCKET PARK
The committee walked the site. Mr. Thomsen said after they got it mowed it might not have to
be reseeded.
13 ACRE SITE AT MCKUSICK ROAD AND NEAL AVENUE
Mr. Thomsen said that a new swing set will be installed within the next week or so. More trees
are slated for the park, along with a picnic shelter, tables and benches.
BENSON PARK
Mr. Cummings pointed out a piece of land that could be acquired for open space at the end of the
cul-de-sac on Shelton Drive.
No-Name Park at Tuenge-Shelton Drives. Ms. Fitzgerald reported that there was a neighborhood
meeting on May 8. The popular vote for a name for the park was Anez Ridge Park. Council will
e need to approve the name.

Recommendation: Consideration of community park alternative sites and provide staff with
appropriate direction.
Other areas in the expansion area are not available or not well located because of access or
lay of the land. If the commission is interested in pursuing any of these sites or others, staff
could be directed to make contact with the owners to see if they re interested in selling for
what price. Other organizations interested in field sports might be questioned regarding
financial support for such a purchase.
3. County Road 12/15 Site - This site is located on the edge ofthe city expansion area. It has
good trail and roadway access and could be used for field sports with some grading and
drainage improvements. The cost of this site, if it is available, is much less then lands in
the city expansion area because of the lack of city water and sewer services.
e 2. Rivard Site - the 23 acre site is located on the northeast corner of Boutwell and CR 15.
The site is relatively flat. With minor grading, could be used for field activities. Access to
the site is good via CR 15 or Boutwell. Trail access would be provided in the future to the
site along CR 15 or from Phase II development to the east. This site is probably the best
large site in the expansion area.
1. McKusick Road Park - the site contains 30 acres has good trail and street access along
McKusick Road and Neal Avenue. The city has purchased parcel A and B and can
possibly obtain parcel C from the county. Owners of parcels D and E have been
approached and are interested in considering offers to purchase. Sites 0 and E have
dredge material from the McKusick Road project stockpiled on it. The material would need
to be removed to use the site for field activities. The excavation costs should be
considered in purchasing the site.
The attached map shows possible community park sites. The sites are appropriate for active
play field activities. In addition to the community park facilities, neighborhood parks would be
provided with each plan of development. Listed below are the possible park locations:
