CITY HALL: 216 NORTH FOURTH STILLWATER, MINNESOTA 55082 PHONE: 612-439-6121 e e e MINUTES STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING November 22, 1993 MEMBERS PRESENT: Mike Polehna, Rich Cummings, Steve Jo ce, Rob McGarry, Michelle Roettger, steve Wolff MEMBERS ABSENT: David Junker, Tom Lillesve, Ken Meister, Del Peterson ALSO PRESENT: Tim Thomsen, Parks Supervisor Ann Pung-Terwedo, City Planner OTHERS: Judy Gulden Vice-Chairman Polehna called the meeting to order at 7:50 p.m. UPDATE ON ICE ARENA Members of the Board felt that things are going well under the new management system at the Lily Lake Arena. OUTDOOR RINKS TIm Thomsen reported that thIs year he plans to flood the 1/4- mile track at the Old Athletic Field, and also plans to have a rink at the Stillwater Junior High. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Steve Wolff, seconded by Steve Joyce to minutes of the October 25 meeting. All in favor. the ANN TERWEDO - PARK PLAN Ann reported that she has reviewed the issues identifie at the last Board meeting, and has revised the goals and policies. She asked the Board to start thinking about priorities for the next five to 10 years, and also a yearly plan. The Board reviewed and discussed the list of goals and policies and made several changes. Motion by Steve Wolff, second d by Rob McGarry to approve the Park and Recreation Goals, Objectives, and Policies as amended. All in favor. The list will next be reviewed by the Planning Commission, and then the City ouncil. Members asked if they could obtain binders for keeping the Park Plan materials. Ann will take care of this. At the next meeting, the Board will incorporate the P rk Plan goals and objectives into the overall goals and objecti es of the Comprehensive Plan. They will also look at neighborhood parks and 1 e e e stillwater ParkB and Recreation Board November 22, 1993 service areas. NEXT MEETING The next meeting is set for Monday, December 13, at Building. A short agenda will be followed by a Christ NEW BUSINESS A question was raised about the vacancy on the Bo Cummings reported that the City Council will be revi procedure for appointments, including representation four wards, and term limits for members. MRPA MEMBERSHIP Rich the the Mike Polehna discussed a previous action by the Board approving membership in the MRPA. The Board is still in favor of this membership. Mike will take care of getting the applic tion form filled out and submitted. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Steve Wolff, seconded by Rich Cummings to ad ourn the meeting at 8:55 p.m. All in favor.
