CITY HALL: 216 NORTH FOURTH STILLWATER, MINNESOTA 55082 PHONE: 612-439- 121 e e e MINUTES STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING April 28, 1992 MEMBERS PRESENT: Wayne Wohlers, Douglas Hartman, Jim Gann n, David Junker, Alan Liehr, Mike Polehna a d Roberta Opheim MEMBERS ABSENT: Steve Joyce, Rob McGarry, Tom Lillesve, nd Ken Meister ALSO PRESENT: Bob Bielenberg and Tim Thomsen Chairman Wohlers called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Bob Bielenberg asked for a correction to the Minutes of Ma ch 24: under Arena Report, third paragraph, last sentence shou dread "Bob reported that he has already informed the Hockey Asso iation that next year they will be required to make payments pr or to the end of the season." Motion by Doug Hartman, seconded by Jim Gannon to appro e the minutes of March 24, 1992, as corrected. All in favor. OLD BUSINESS Wayne reported that the Stillwater Elks have donated $1, 00 to purchase tools and playground equipment. The secreta y was directed to send a letter thanking the Elks for this donat'on. Wayne also reported that the City Council voted 3-2 to den David Rochlin's request for a permit to sell Glow Necklaces in t e park on July 4th. The Board had recommended approval of this p rmit. The Board members suggested that a letter be sent to City Council expressing the Board's disappointment with the neil's decision because this person followed all the proper proc dures, while others continue to sell in the parks without permit. The letter should also state that because this permit w s not granted, there should be no selling by anyone in the par, and this policy should be strictly enforced by the Police Depa tment. The secretary was directed to draft this letter for ayne's signature. ARENA REPORT Bob reported that the arena is still operating and will be in use June 8 - 11. 1 e e e stillwater Parks and Recreation Board Minutes April 2 , 1992 BALLFIELD REPORT Tim reported that the fields are in pretty good shape. asked if lights will be put up on the new ballfield at Li Tim stated that he cannot get the poles in now because th is up. Mike Polehna stated that a 4-pole system could g sides and would not have to go behind the fence. Tim wil this and will check to see if any money is available f purpose. Mike Polehna asked if the Croixwood field will be worked n year because the infield is in poor shape. Tim stated nothing is scheduled for Croixwood this year, and t at drainage is poor at that location and causes the field to out. The board felt that there has not yet been a demand for this an will therefore wait on this. There will be a NEXT MEETING The Board agreed that another tour of the parks should b next month. The Board will therefore meet on May 26 at 6:00 (note time change) at the Parks Building and from ther carpool to all the City parks. The Board will then recon the Parks Building for a meeting, if necessary, and barbeque. The Board will not meet again until September.
