YOU - SEE YOU SINCERELY, WAYNE WOHLERS CHAIRMAN CITY HALL: 216 NORTH FOURTH STILLWATER, MINNESOTA 55082 PHONE: 612-439-61 1 e MINUTES STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING November 28, 1989 MEMBERS PRESENT: Wayne Wohlers, Jim Gannon, Rob McGarr David Junker, Steve Joyce, Roberta Oph and Tom Thoreson MEMBERS ABSENT: Tom Lammers, Susan Supina, and Alan Li hr ALSO PRESENT: Dick Blekum , im, Chairman Wohlers called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Tom Thoreson, seconded by Jim Gannon to appr ve the minutes of the meeting of October 10, 1989, as submitte . All in favor. 4It OLD BUSINESS Chairman Wohlers read a letter from the City Finance regarding the fact that the Parks Department budget balance. Chairman Wohlers and Parks Director Blekum expl discrepancy to the Board and will bring the matter attention of the Finance Director. DOWNTOWN AREA MEETING REPORT David Junker reported on the meeting of October 19 with of the Downtown Plan Action Committee. Roberta Opheim reported that the current Lowell Park calls for repair of the levee and beautific the park, including new arched sidewalks, a concrete plaza, wrought iron fencing along the parking lot with and paved entryways and a fountain on the north end. funding will be solicited for the beautification project. Dick reported that the backstop is the only size that wo ld fit in that area. Because of an insurance requirement, all players benches will be screened. ARENA REPORT Bob Bielenberg was absent. Roberta stated her concern that the side doors are no closing and are sometimes left open. Sometimes the doors closed with a rubber cord, which could create exiting pro the case of a fire. The tour is sponsored by the M.nnesota Multiple Sclerosis Society, Celebrate Minnesota 1990, a d the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission. The event will b gin in Ortonville and finish in Stillwater at Lowell Park.
