Adjournment CITY HALL: 216 NORTH FOURTH STILLWATER, MINNESOTA 55082 PHONE: 612-439-61 1 e MINUTES STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING October 10, 1989 MEMBERS PRESENT: Wayne Wohlers, Tom Lammers, Susan Sup'na, Rob McGarry, David Junker, Steve Joy e, Roberta Opheim, Tom Thoreson MEMBERS ABSENT: Alan Liehr, Jim Gannon and Duane Nels n ALSO PRESENT: Dick Blekum and Bob Bielenberg Chairman Wohlers called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. He introduced new member, David Junker, who will replace J hn Benson who has resigned from the Board. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Tom Thoreson, seconded by Susan Supina to a prove the minutes of the meeting of September 26, 1989, as subm tted. All in favor. e OLD BUSINESS Discussion continued regarding the absenteeism of boa d member Duane Nelson. The Board determined that he should be replaced with an active member. Rob McGarry made a motion that, for the benefit of the Parks and Recreation Board, inactive member Duane Nelson be repla ed with a new member willing to participate on the Board. Secon ed by Tom Thoreson. All in favor. PARK AND BALLFIELD Dick Blekum reported he has received two quotes for th and both are under $10,000. The fencing consists of foot high sides, two dugouts, and ten foot outfield hopes to get the irrigation system in this year so that can be seeded next spring. He estimated it will be pI next July. He the field yable by ake, and ARENA REPORT ~ Bob Bielenberg reported that the ice should be ready by this Thursday night. 1 e Parks and Recreation Board October 10, 1989 There was discussion regarding the resurfacing of the 0 tside of the arena. Bob will check into this for inclusion in the 1991 budget. The Hockey Association has purchased 678 hours of ice time and Mahtomedi has purchased 72 hours. Open skating will b $2 per time or $35 for a season pass. NEW BUSINESS There was discussion of the new Park Dedication Policy Opheim reported that the Council has adopted the revised by the Board. Wayne Wohlers informed the Board of a joint meeting Downtown Plan Action Committee on Thursday, October 19 Opheim gave some background information on the Committ and explained thaat the Committee wants input from the on that portion of the Downtown Plan that involves Low David Junker, Steve Joyce, Rob McGarry and Wayn expressed interest in attending the meeting. Wohlers e Dick Blekum reported that the Council has approved the Elks Club request to sell Christmas trees at the Lily Lake Tennis Courts. Mr. Blekum reported on a DNR program for improving sites and fishing piers. He and Steve Russell filled proper forms and submitted them to the DNR. Mr. Bleku letter from the DNR responding to the application and like Lily Lake would be a good site for a boat launch launch. The fishing pier would have to be moved. The would be to submit a plan for the DNR's review. Roberta Opheim made a motion to authorize Dick Blekum with preparing plans and estimates for a boat launch Lake. Seconded by Susan Supina.
