PARK AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 1989 Members Present: Wayne Wohlers, Tom Thoreson, steve Joyce, Rob Mc arry, John Benson, Duane Nelson, Alan Liehr, Sue Supina, Rob rta Opheim Also Present: Dick Blekurn, Bob Bielenberg Members Absent: Tom Lammers, Jim Gannon, Shelly Schaubach Chairman Wohlers called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Steve Joyce to approve the minutes of February 14, 1989, econded by Alan Liehr. All in favor. OLD BUSINESS Motion by Alan Liehr to post a sign at Lily Lake Beach "Thank ou for Not Smoking". Motion passed. Motion by Duane Nelson to post air quality sign in Lily Lake Ice Are a, seconded by John Benson. Motion failed. . LIFEGUARD WAGES Motion by Tom Thoreson to raise lifeguard wages to start at $5.00 p r hour and raise .25 per years of service at Lily Lake Beach and to top out a $6.25 per hour after five (5) years of service. Then salaries will be revi wed by the Board. This raise is so we can stay competitive with other beaches. Seconded by Alan Liehr. All in favor. BALL FIELD FEES Motion by Duane Nelson to leave ball field fees the same, seco ded by Rob McGarry. All in favor. ARENA REPORT Bob Bielenberg said arena is running fine. BALL FIELD CONSTRUCTION Ball field construction is running on schedule. Tom Thoreson and ick Blekurn are working together to organize fence installation, irrigation, et HOME HOCKEY GAME LETTER . There will be a meeting with the school district and city officials at Joseph's Restaurant on April 27, 1989 at 9:30 a.m. This meeting will conce n more home hockey games for the high school hockey team at Lily Lake Arena. Councilmember Opheim will approach the City Council with recommendation to restrain profit vendors from selling products in p without approval of the Park and Recreation Board. he Boards lic parks Motion by Duane Nelson, seconded by John Benson not to allow the Bl e Bell Ice Cream Truck to operate in public parks. All in favor. LIGHTS FOR RAMSEY PARK This will be discussed at the next Park and Recreation Board Meetin . NEW BUSINESS PARK USE Motion by Alan Liehr that in accordance with Ordinance 663, the Park Superintendent Dick Blekurn has control of the scheduling of daily n nexclusive eyents in the parks. In addition, exclusive use of said parks will be brought in front of Parks and Recreation Board for approval. Seconded by R b McGarry. All in favor. STAPLES FIELD Motion by John Benson to have Dick Blekurn take control of the Stap es Field's Project using his discretion. Seconded by Duane Nelson. All in fa or.
