MINUTES STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING April 13, 1988 MEMBERS PRESENT: Wayne Wohlers, Roberta Opheim, Thomas Thoreson, Alan Liehr, Jim Gannon, Steve Joyce, om Lammers, and Linda Kluy MEMBERS ABSENT: John Benson, Robert McGarry, and Duan Nelson ALSO PRESENT: Dick Blekum and Bob Bielenberg Chairman Wayne Wohlers called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and introduced newly appointed member, steve Joyce. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Jim Gannon, seconded by'Tom Thoreson to appro e the minutes of the March 9, 1988 meeting as submitted. All in favor OLD BUSINESS The Board reveiwed a letter written by Roberta Opheim i response to Robert Zoller. Discussion followed regarding possible locations and design of picnic shelters. PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT Dick Blekum reported that $5000 is available to playground equipment for Lily Lake. He recommended the purchase f a Gametime set at a cost of $3998, and suggested that the remaining funds be used to purchase a swing set or soft fill at the playground s'te. Linda Kluy made a playground equipment. motion to recommend purchase of Seconded by Steve Joyce. All in ARENA - SPRING LEAGUE the Gametime avor. Bob Bielenberg reported that Spring League started tonig t, April 13, and will continue through May 1. NEW BUSINESS Linda Kluy informed the Board of her resignation becaus she will be moving out of Stillwater. Robert Opheim made a motion t accept Linda Kluy's resignation; seconded by Tom Lammers. A I in favor. Discussion followed regarding possible replacements. Dick Blekum reported that $6000 will be available for a fence at the Croixwood Ballfield. The ballfield will be fenced on b th sides, and the project will proceed as soon as the money becomes av ilable. 1 . . . . .. Park and Recreation Board Meeting April 13, 1988 Bob Bielenberg presented three weekly schedules to the Bo rd, in order to demonstrate his need for only part-time employees at the Arena. The sample schedules indicated a saving of 18 hours per week with part-time help. The Board determined that this is a personnel issue and should be brought before the City Coordinator and Departmental Directors. Bob Bielenberg reported that the Lily Lake Beach will 0 en in early June, contingent on staff schedules, Dick Blekum stat d that the procedure this year will be to have one lifeguard in the boat at all time s , The next meeting of the Park and Recreation Board will b May 11, 1988 at 6:00 p.m. (please note time change). meet in the Parks Building to discuss any agenda depart for a tour of Stillwater parks.
