MINUTES STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING February 10, 1988 MEMBERS PRESENT: Wayne Wohlers, Roberta Opheim, Thomas horeson, and Duane Nelson MEMBERS ABSENT: John Benson, Linda Kluy, Tom Lammers, Jim Gannon, John Rahm, and Alan Liehr ALSO PRESENT: Dick Blekum and Bob Bielenberg Chairman Wayne Wohlers called the meeting to order at 7:1 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the January 1988 meeting were not approved, d e to lack of a quorum. OLD BUSINESS Chairman Wohlers reported that Jim Swanson has resigned f due to schedule conflicts. Nile Kriesel will send a let him for his services on the Board. Chairman Wohler recommendations for filling the vacancy. Two indiv recommended, and they will be contacted to determine th interest in serving on the Board " ADDITIONAL FENCING AT CROIXWOOD BALL FIELD om the Board er thanking asked for duals were ir levels of Tom Thoreson reported on the approximate length and ost of the additional fencing at Croixwood. The discussion will co tinue at the next meeting, and Dick Blekum will contact the City Fin nce Director regarding money for this project. SPRING HOCKEY LEAGUE Bob Bielenberg reported on the status of the Spring Ho key League. Dick Blekum reported on income and expenditures for la t year. A formal report will be included on next month's agend. He also reported that NSPhas put the arena on a new stand-by sys em in order to reduce electricity rates. DOWNTOWN PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING Duane Nelson and Roberta Opheim attended the Downt wn Planning Committee Meeting held on January 27. They reported tha the meeting focused on the need for repairs to the Lowell Park L vee, and a conceptual plan for Lowell Park as included in the Downto n Plan. The Board will have an opportunity to review a draft of the P an, and the Downtown Planning Committee will then hold another meetin . 1 . . . Park and Recreation Board Meeting February 10, 1988 NEW BUSINESS Dick Blekum reported on playground equipment that he wo ld like Board to consider purchasing for Lily Lake. This discussion continue at the next meeting. the will Bob Bielenberg reported on the problems with the hot air balloon races scheduled at Lily Lake in conjunction with the st. Paul Winter Carnival. The races have been postponed twice due to the weather, and have been resheduled for times when there was an activit scheduled at the arena. This has caused problems with parking at the arena. The Board discussed the possibility of scheduling the races at Lake McKusick next year. This discussion will continue at a meeting in late summer. The next meeting of the Park and Recreation Board is scheduled for March 9, 1988 at 7:00 p.m. at the Parks Building.
