MINUTES STILLWATER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING JANUARY 13, 1988 Members Present: Wayne Wohlers, John Benson, Linda Kluy, Tom Lammers Tom Thoreson, Jim Gannon, John Rahm, Roberta Opheim Members Absent: Duane Nelson, Alan Liehr, Jim Swanson Also Present: Dick Blekum, Bob Bielenberg Chairman Wohlers called meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. Approval of Minutes John Benson made a motion to approve the minutes of the December meeting. Jim Gannon seconded the motion. All in favor. Chairman and Vice Chairman for 1988 Jim Gannon made the motion to keep Wayne Wohlers as Chairman and John Benson as Vice Chairman for 1988. Tom Lammers seconded the motion. All in avor. . Old Business Discussion was held concerning members being absent from meetings. I was decided to have Chairman Wohlers contact Nile Kriesel about any such ember- with board approval. Arena Report Bob Bielenberg reported that the arena is operating on schedule. Dis ussion held concerning the condition of the plexiglass. Bob Belienberg said it is an on-going problem that only good old fashioned lIelbow grease" can cure! Dick Blekum said he would send his crew to help clean - when time allowed. Outside Rinks Report Dick Blekum reported that all outside rinks have ice and are being pl wed. Discussion held of the possibility of putting an outside rink at the ld athletic field again as residents in that area have requested one. D'ck Blekum said it was too late this year, but there was a good chance fo next year. (will be put on the September 1988 Agenda). New Business Discussion was held concerning more open skating during "Prime Time" n weekends at the arena. Bob Bielenberg reports that the Sunday evenin open skating session is very well attended. A Saturday afternoon session as discussed as a possiblity for the 1988-89 season. Tabled until May meting. Roberta Opheim brought to the Board's attention a Downtown Planning C mmittee Meeting to be held on Wednesday, January 27. The Committee would lik to have representation from the Parks and Recreation Board. Linda Kluy and J'm Gannon volunteered to attend. (Tom Thoreson and John Rahm are almost sure t ey could attend also). . ... ' ~ , ..,,...... . . . Park and Recreation Board Meeting January 13, 1987 Page Two The next meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board will be Wednesday, February 10, 1988 at 7 p.m. at the Parks Building.
