HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-060 RESOLUTION NO. 98-60 APPROVING PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDERING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR SOUTH 1ST STREET RECONSTRUCTION (PROJECT 9802) AND CURVE CREST BOULEVARD STREET REHABILITATION (PROJECT 9803) WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution passed by the Council on February 3, 1998, and February 17, 1998 respectively, the City Engineer has prepared plans and specifications for the making of street improvements on South 1S` Street between Orleans Street and Willard Street; Willard Street from 15` Street to 3rd Street; and Hancock Street and Marsh Street between ls` Street and 6`" Avenue, and Burlington Street between 15` Street and 6`" Avenue and street rehabilitation improvements to Curve Crest Boulevard between Greeley Street and Washington Avenue; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that it would be advantageous to the City of Stillwater to combine these two projects and advertise for bids as one project; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for both improvements to the Council for approval and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF STILLWATER, MINNESOTA: The plans and specifications presented by the City Engineer are hereby approved. 2. That the above described projects be combined and bid as one project for bidding purposes. 3. The City Clerk is ordered to prepare and cause to be inserted in The Gazette and in the Construction Bulletin an advertisement for bids upon the making of the improvement under the approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published for three days, shall specify the work to be done, shall state that bids will be received by the City Clerk until Thursday, April 2, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at which time they will be publicly opened in the Council Chambers of City Hall by the City Engineer; will then be tabulated and will be considered by the Council at their next regular Council meeting on Apri17, 1998, in the Council Chambers. Any bidder whose responsibility is questioned during consideration of the bid will be given an opportunity to address the Council on the issue of responsibility. No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the Clerk for ten (10) percent of the amount of the bid.
