RESOLUTION NO. 91-41 WHEREAS, it has been recommended to the City Council by the Stillwater Port Authority that proper enforcement of the no wake provisions contained in the Minnesota Rules be achieved within the City limits of the City of Stillwater, and WHEREAS, Minnesota Rule 6105.0320 defines slow "no wake" to mean the operation of a motor boat at the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage, and WHEREAS, Minnesota Rule 6105.0330 subpart 2e provides that no motor boat shall be operated in excess of a slow "no wake" speed within 100 feet of shore, including the shores of islands and of swimmers and from sand bars located approximately at mile 31.0 to the confluence of the st. Croix River with the Mississippi River, and WHEREAS, the City of Stillwater is located within this zone. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City Coordinator, with the assistance of the Public Safety Director, is directed to place buoys in order that the public be clearly informed of the no wake zone between the extension of Elm Street on the North and the extension of Locust Street on the South. 2. That the City Coordinator is authorized to purchase these buoys at the approximate amount of $125 - $150 each. 3. That the City Coordinator is directed to seek the cooperation of the Public Safety Director and the Washington County Sheriff to develop a program for the enforcement of this restricted zone as marked. 4. That since the Minnesota Rules provide that violating the above rules constitutes a misdemeanor, all law enforcement officers now employed by the City or deputized by the City are hereby directed to vigorously enforce the standards set forth in these rules.
