HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-221 :1JIl.., I .. 1.;.1" r RESOLUTION NO. 91-221 BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Stillwater requests the US Army Corps of Engineers to conduct studies to determine the feasibility of developing an emergency street and bank protection project along the St. Croix River in Downtown Stillwater under the authority provided by Section 14 of the 1946 Flood Control Act as amended; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Corps of Engineers study the feasibility of improving the waterfront for docking of commercial craft under Section 107 of the 1960 River Harbor Act; WHEREAS, the City of Stillwater has commissioned a Lowell Park Levee Wall erosion protection study that indicates the clear danger of the wall's future (report attached). WHEREAS, the St. Croix River is a nationally designated wild and scenic river and a documented natural and cultural resource to the nation; r WHEREAS, the levee wall is a contributing structure in the Downtown Stillwater Commercial Historic District, it is understood that, if it is found to be feasible and advisable, to develop a stream bank protection project in Stillwater, the City Council would be required before construction commences to enter into a contractual agreement that it will be required before construction commences to enter into a contractual agreement that it will provide such local cooperation as may be prescribed by the Secretary of the Army. THEREFORE, the Clerk of the City of Stillwater shall be, and is hereby directed, to transmit three copies of this resolution to the District Engineer, St. Paul District, US Army Corps of Engineers, 1421 US Post Office Building and Custom House, St. Paul, Minnesota 55101-9808.
