The Maple Island plant site is centrally located and its redevelopment and reuse is critical to the future of the downtown. The Maple Island plant site, like other industrial sites in the older part of the region, has pollution problems and must be cleaned up before it can be reused. The proposed improvement of the site will have a clear public benefit. The site tax base will increase by over $2 million and 150 jobs produced. The tax base revitalization account grant $266,400 along with the city's coi'itribution of $765,000 are necessary to clean up the site and allowing a economically viable community commercial use of the site. It is highly unlikely this site will be developed in the near future without this type of special assistance. The Stillwater project seems to be a nice fit with the goals of the livable communities act. I look forward to your review of our project.
