HomeMy WebLinkAbout0581 Ord (Adopt Codification of Ordinances - City Code)• 481 • ORDINANCE NO. 581 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A REVISION AND CODIFICATION OF ORDINANCES, TO BE KNOWN AS THE STILLWATER CITY CODE; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF CERTAIN ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR THE PRESERVATION OF CERTAIN RIGHTS AND PROVIDING NOTICE OF THE ADOPTION THEREOF PURSUANT TO MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 415,021. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER DOES ORDAIN: Subdivision 1. Adoption of Code. This Ordinance, consisting of Chapters 21 through 56, is a codification and revision of the ordinances (except as specified in Subd. 2) of the City of Stillwater and shall be and is hereby adopted as a single, original and comprehensive ordinance to be known as the Stillwater. City Code. Subdivision 2. Repeal of Ordinances. All ordinances passed prior to the effective date of the adoption of the Stillwater City Code are hereby repealed, except those ordinances listed in Appendix A of the Stillwater City Code. The ordinances listed in Appendix A, being special or limited in nature and applica- t9.on, are continued in force, but not set forth in the Stillwater City Code. Subdivision 3. Preservation of Rights. The repeal of any ordinance or portion thereof by the preceding subd. shall not affect or impair any proceeding, suit or prosecution had or commenced in any cause before such repeal shall take effect, but every such act done, cr right vested or accrued, or proceeding, suit or porsecution had or commenced shall remain in full force and effect to all intents and purposes as if such ordinance or part thereof so repealed had remained in force. No offense committed and no liability, penalty or forfeiture either civilly or criminally incurred prior to the time when any such ordinance or part thereof shall be repealed or altered by the Stillwater City Code shall be discharged or affected by such repeal or alteration; but prosecutions and suits for such offenses, liabilities, penalties or forfeitures shall be in- stituted and proceeds with in all respects as if such prior ordinance or part thereof had not been repealed or altered. Subdivision 4. Amendments and Additions. Ordinances passed subsequent to February 12, 1980,shall, where appropriate, be deemed additions or amendments to the Code. Such ordinances shall be incorporated into the Code from time to time by the printing of revisions sheets for inclusion in the Code. Subdivision 5. Publication, Notice and Effective Date. This ordinance, the Stillwater City Code, together with such indexes, supplements, appendixes or other material as the Council may designate shall be published in book form and a substantial quantity of copies shall be printed and available at the Stillwater City Offices for general distribution to the public. The Stillwater City Code shall become operative and effective upon its passage and upon this ordinance being published for two successive weeks in the legal newspaper of the City of Stillwater This ordinance shall in all ways be that notice required by Minnesota Statues Section 415.021.
