HomeMy WebLinkAbout0510 Ord (Prohibit Deposit Storm Water in Sanitary Sewer System)ORDINANCE NO. 510 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE DEPOSIT OF STORM WATER IN THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER AND PRESCRIBING PENALITIES FOR VIOLATION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER DOES ORDAIN: SECTION 1. DEFINITIONS. Storm Water is defined as run-off caused by rain or melting snow. Sanitary Sewer System is that system of underground pipes within the City of Stillwater which transports the residential and commercial and industrial wastes of the City to a sewage treatment plant. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any individual, firm, or corporation to construct any structure which causes or permits the deposit of storm water in the sanitary sewer collection and disposal system of the City of Stillwater. Where at the time of the adoption of this ordinance such struc- tures are already in existence, the party who is the owner of the property whereon such structures are located, or who utilizes such structures, shall remove the same and make alternate provisions for the disposition of said storm water no later than the 31st day of December, 1973. Failure to remove such structures by said date shall constitute a violation of this ordinance, unless the Superintendent of Public Works shall have for reason of practical hardship granted an extension no later than May 31, 1974. SECTION 3. Each day that a structure which causes or permits the deposit of storm water in the sanitary sewer system of the City of Stillwater exists in violation of Section 2 of this ordinance shall constitute a eepar*te violation. SECTION 4. PENALTY. Violation of this ordinance shais constitute a petty misdemeanor and upon conviction of the same shall be punishable by a fine of $100. SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication according to law. Passed by the Council this 25th day of September, 1973.
